Agitating locals demanding road upgrade allow transportation after agreement in Kanchanpur

KANCHANPUR: Vehicular movement resumed along Kaluwapur-Belauri road section on Monday, four days after locals closed-down the road demanding its immediate upgradation in Kanchanpur district.

Locals of Bansaha in Shuklaphanta Municipality-1 allowed the traffic only after an agreement was made to initiate tarmacking of the road in presence of the member of Sudurpaschim Province Assembly Lal Bahadur Khadka, concerned ward chair and representatives of road construction contractor’s company.

Dhirendra Bhatta, Engineer at Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport shared that the tarmacking of the road was delayed as the provincial government only recently mandated to look after the road and physical infrastructures.

The road construction and maintenance works will begin from coming Monday, said Deepak Joshi, a representative of Santoshi-JV Contractor Company.
