CPAN, NCCS sign deal for next month’s Cricket Award

Kathmandu, February 13

Cricket Players Association Nepal announced the NCCS-CPAN Cricket Awards here today.

The Award, slated for on March 5, features five categories — Cricket of the Year (Men), Cricket of the Year (Women), Emerging Cricketer of the Year, Moment of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award, informed the CPAN President Dr Manish Raj Pandey at a press meet.

CPAN signed the agreement with National College of Computer Studies and the NCCS group will sponsor all the costs of the programme.

CPAN President Pandey and NCCS Principal Sankar Raj Joshi exchanged the memorandum of Understanding.

As per the deal, NCCS will fund the total budget of the Award.

The Cricketer of the Year in men’s section will get Rs 132,000 including the tax, while the winners in four other categories will earn Rs 66,000 each. “We are organising the award programme for the first time and this is purely to encourage the cricketers,” said Pandey. “We will form an independent technical committee to select the winners as we want the award to be fair,” said Pandey.

NCCS Principal Joshi said they were excited to join hands with CPAN for the award. “It is a matter of pride to get the opportunity to be associated with cricket and our main objective is to contribute to the development of the sport,” Joshi said.

CPAN General Secretary and national team skipper Paras Khadka said the Moment of the Year would be decided through public votes.

“We will select five-six such moments and request the public to vote their favourite,” said Khadka.

Asked about the difference in cash for male and female winners, CPAN President Pandey said the committee decided the amount after a serious discussion in the meeting.
