Nepal enter SAFF women’s championship finals with a 4-0 win against Lanka

KATHMANDU: Nepal have entered the finals of 2019 SAFF Women’s Championship with a massive win against the Sri Lankan team. Nepal scored four goals against Lanka in the first semi-final game held today at Shahid Rangashala. Lanka were unable to score any goal in the match.

The first half saw a tight defense woven by the Sri Lankan team where Nepal were able to produce only a goal at the 42nd minute. Puna jargha Magar scored the first goal for Nepal.

However, the latter half of the second half brought much needed respite for Nepal with Anita Basnet’s goal in in the 73rd minute. Sabitri Bhandari and Rekha Paudel’s goals at 82′ and 86′ sealed the deal for the hosts.

Nepal women’s team is yet to lift SAFF trophy.

India will play Bangladesh in the next semis to be held
