Welcoming Rai to the party, NCP co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal said, “We are heading in the right direction. I have known Rai for a long time, his experience will definitely take the party forward.”

Dahal also added that he would soon like to see Biplav join mainstream politics as well. Speaking at the event head at the party headquarter Dhumbarahi, Rai said that he hadn’t joined NCP looking for refuge.

He added that he had joined the Biplav-led splinter group because he believed that they could bring about change. However, Rai decided to quit the splinter group after its recent activities.

“The party was heading towards a wrong direction which is why I decide to quit. I do not support the killing of innocent people,” Rai said.
