PM Employment Programme launched

Kathmandu, June 7

The Prime Minister Employment Programme was launched formally from Bhaktapur today.

Inaugurating the programme at Katunje of Bhaktapur today, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that no Nepali will now be compelled to go abroad for jobs.

“More than four million Nepalis are abroad seeking employment opportunities. However, the government is committed to implement this programme effectively and ensure that ample job opportunities are created in the country itself,” said PM Oli, adding that the launch of the Prime Minister Employment Programme is one of the nation building programmes.

Citing that this programme is especially targeted towards youths, the prime minister informed that the government is launching different programmes to safeguard the fundamental rights of children, youths and old people.

A total of Rs 24.6 million has been allocated for the programme in Bhaktapur district, comprising four municipalities — Changunarayan, Bhaktapur, Madhyapur Thimi and Surya Binayak — as per lawmaker Mahesh Basnet.

The programme has received 400 applications from Suryabinayak, 910 from Changunarayan and 76 from Madhyapur Thimi from those interested to be enrolled in the scheme.

On the occasion, Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Gokarna Bista said that though the government was able to partially implement this programme in the ongoing fiscal, it will be implemented in a full-fledged manner in the next fiscal year with a target to provide jobs to almost 500,000 people.
